South Tyrol's cross-country runners come away empty-handed

Over 2.700 athletes determined the Italian cross-country champions in Cassino at the weekend. From a South Tyrolean perspective, it was only partially worth the trip.

A total of 13 local athletes took part in the “Festa del Cross” in the province of Frosinone. Lisa Leuprecht from Lanan achieved the best individual result, placing 20th in the U6 race over 12 km. Edoardo Melloni, who competes for the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96, took ninth place in the short distance of 3 km. The SAF Bozen men's relay team came 29th.

A five-member U16 national team also competed in Cassino. However, this time it wasn't enough to achieve top results: the girls placed 18th, there was no boys' team at the start.
