South Tyroleans shine in Rovereto

The traditional “opening meeting” took place in Rovereto on Sunday. Among the numerous participants there were also some South Tyrolean athletes who were able to put themselves in the spotlight.

In wonderful weather, the local athletes achieved good results, starting with the women's long jump. The Burgstaller all-rounder Linda Maria Pircher from SV Lana won with 5.58 m, confidently ahead of Sofia Galvagnini from Trentino (5.35) and teammate Ronja Hilber (5.22).


Hannah Fischler from SG Eisacktal won the 300 m hurdles with a new personal best of 49.29 seconds. U18 shot putter Stephanie Schöpf was also happy about setting a record. The Lanan woman held her own with 13.57 m, ahead of Nora Dametto (11.94 m) from the South Tyrol Team Club. In the women's race, Emma Ghirardello Pichler from Merano - who has been competing for ASV Vipiteno since this year - also climbed onto the podium in third place over 600 m (1:36.63 minutes).

The South Tyrolean men also made it to the “Stockerl” several times in Rovereto. Riccardo Vantini from the Bolzano club CSS Leonardo da Vinci was in a class of his own in the 300 m hurdles in 38.45 seconds, U18 talent Leo Masi won the discus throw with 42.15 m. The Isarco sprinter Nicolas Filehner (150 m, 16.59 ) and 2000 m runner Mirko Tomasi (5:34.01). Ebrima Bojang from Bolzano took third place in the 3 m.
