Lots of new things at the first Kaltererseelauf

The race, which is also the second stage of the Top7 running series, starts in Tramin and runs from the well-known wine village over 14,9 kilometers around the warmest swimming lake in the Alps. In addition, the first stop of the VSS youth series “SprintChampion” and a fun run called “Gewürztraminerlauf” will be held as part of this premiere.

More than 500 runners, many of them from nearby countries such as Austria and Germany, have already answered the call of the Kaltererseelauf, which takes up the legacy of the Under Armor Kalterer See Half Marathon and forms the second stage of the regional Top7 running series. At 10 a.m. the participants start from the Tramin town hall square. From there we head north to the shores of Lake Kaltern. The group then runs clockwise around the warmest bathing lake in the Alps before returning to the starting point, where the destination awaits after 14,9 kilometers at the starting point.

A race for young and old A quarter of an hour after the start of the Kaltererseelauf, participants in the Gewürztraminer Run also set off on their journey. The four-kilometer-long fun run with start and finish at Tramin Town Hall Square is open to all interested running enthusiasts. The Gewürztraminer Run is not a competition, is not timed and can also be undertaken without a sports doctor's certificate, which is required for the Kaltererseelauf.

After arriving at the town hall square in Tramin, the participants move on to the nearby festival square at around 12 p.m., where the award ceremony and a final party will take place. In addition, the first stage of the SprintChampions organized by the VSS will take place from 14 p.m., in which all children and young people born after 2010 can take part free of charge.

Nine races, but only the seven top results count As already announced, the Kaltererseelauf is the second stage of the Top7 running series, which will include nine races for the first time in 2023. Nevertheless, the number “7” remains a constant: the seven best results of each athlete are taken into account for the overall ranking. Khalid Jbari from Bolzano, who also won the last edition of the Under Armor Lake Kaltern Half Marathon, won the Ladurner Volkslauf on December 31, 2022 in Bolzano, the first stage of the regional running series. Among the women, Katja Pattis (ASD Südtirol Team Club) won the Ladurner Fun Run. Whoever ends up on the podium at the Kaltererseelauf will also collect valuable points for the overall ranking.
