The South Tyrol selection for the regional meeting has been made

The South Tyrolean squad includes 23 athletes and is looked after by the person in charge, Karl Schöpf, as well as the coaches Nicolas Monese, Hans Pircher and Waltraud Mattedi. There will be 12 local athletes competing in the boys category, while 11 will be competing in the girls category.

The boys will be in the bottom half of the rankings, things are looking much better for the girls, as many strong runners are traveling to Fidenza. The main focus is on the 2000 m runner Katja Pattis, the sprint specialists Annika Oberrauch and Anastasia Veronesi Vedovelli as well as the javelin thrower Sarah Filehner, who are among the contenders for victory in their disciplines. The relay team is also given good chances.

In the last three seasons the selection has returned home with two day victories. Both victories came in the boys' 300m race. In 2014, Michael Albrecht from Merano won in 35,12 seconds, the following year Patrick Baù from Brixen won in 36,21 seconds. Last year, Sara Buglisi took second place in the 3000 m walking, while Katja Pattis from Tierser came third in the 1200 m obstacle.

The South Tyrol selection for the regional meeting has been made

The best U16 track and field athletes from northern and central Italy will meet on Sunday, May 28th in Fidenza, in the province of Parma, to determine the winners of the classic regional meeting.
