Golden Trail Series: Daniel Pattis shines in China

Sensational performance from Daniel Pattis. The Tiers trail specialist secured a strong third place at the Golden Trail World Series in China.

Just a week ago in Japan, Pattis finished a strong fifth at the Golden Series opener. The South Tyrolean also showed a dream performance this weekend. A world-class field took part on the 21 km long route (1.500 meters altitude). Superstars such as Patrick Kipngeno, Elhousine El Azzaoui, Roberto Delorenzi and Alex Garcia were registered.

The Kenyan Kipngeno, reigning uphill world champion, also lived up to his role as favorite and prevailed in 1:59.10 hours with a huge lead over the Moroccan El Azzaoui (2:05.39). The podium was then completed by sensation Pattis, who stopped the time measurement at 2:05.51 hours. “I didn’t know what to expect, also because of the difficult conditions here in China. But I felt fit all week and wanted to confirm my good opening result. “I’m just overjoyed with third place, I never would have thought that,” said bronze medalist Pattis.

The Golden Trail Series now moves on to Spain, where the third race of the season is scheduled for May 26th in Zegama Aizkorri.

Anna Hofer manages to qualify for the European Championship

One thing that was clear to Anna Hofer recently was the U20 European Championship qualification in mountain running. The woman from Rabland clearly won the 6,3 km uphill race in Imperia (Liguria) in 35.27 minutes ahead of Silvia Boscacci (37.04) and Debora Bertagnolli (38.49). Alfred Ladurner's athlete has secured the uphill ticket for Annecy at the end of May. The Up&Down qualification, however, is still pending.
