Ötzi Trailrun is aiming for a participant record

Around two weeks before the starting signal for the fourth edition of the trail running spectacle in Naturns, 430 endurance athletes from 18 different nations have already registered for the Alpenplus Ötzi Trailrun. The organizers can therefore look forward to significantly more registrations and the participant record will most likely fall on April 6th.

Training has been going on for a long time, but in terms of competition, the running season in South Tyrol is about to start with a real banger in around two weeks. On Saturday, April 6th, the Alpenplus Ötzi Trailrun will take place in Naturns, where athletes can once again choose between two routes this year: on the one hand, the Sunny Mountain Trail with a length of 30 kilometers and 2100 meters in altitude, and on the other hand, the Half as long Skyrace Naturns with 1200 meters altitude.

Both distances start in the center of Naturns and take the participants on the unique scenic route with sometimes more, sometimes less wide mountain paths around the thermal village near Meran. By the way, the Skyrace Naturns can also be tackled “Just for Fun” and therefore non-competitively without keeping time.

New this year is the VIP Apple Kids Run, which will be held after the start of the two races for adults. In doing so, the organizers are underlining their efforts to develop the Alpenplus Ötzi Trailrun Naturns step by step into an event for the whole family and an unforgettable experience for all participants and their companions. But not only.

“We want to give children the joy of physical activity and at the same time promote their mobility and dexterity. With two age groups - 5-8 years and 9-12 years - we offer an experience tailored to each child's needs and abilities. The Kids Run route extends over 500 meters for the younger age group and 1000 meters for the older participants,” explains the OK team around Deborah Mair, Uli Stampfer and trail professional Daniel Jung.
