The Seiser Alm Half Marathon 2024 is sold out.

Sold out: 700 starters at the Seiser Alm Half Marathon

This year's Seiser Alm Half Marathon is sold out earlier than ever before. 80 days before the big showdown on Sunday, July 7, 2024, the 700 starting places have been awarded to women and men. For all those interested, all that remains is the waiting list and the hope that athletes who have already registered will withdraw in the coming weeks.

It was certainly to be expected that the Seiser Alm Half Marathon would be sold out before the 11th edition of the renowned event on Europe's largest high alpine pasture. After all, the available starting places had already been completely sold in previous years and with some lead time. But this year, participation in the 21,1 kilometer long panoramic run with 601 meters of altitude in the heart of the Dolomites seems to be even more popular than usual. Almost three months before the starting signal on Sunday, July 7th at 9 a.m., all 700 starting numbers are sold out.

“It is of course a dream for every organizer to be sold out months before the event. On the other hand, we now have the dilemma that many interested parties can no longer register directly. They have to hope that athletes who have already registered withdraw – or even wait for the 12th edition in 2025. As far as the preparations for the Seiser Alm Half Marathon are concerned, we are absolutely on target. Everything is going according to plan,” explains Helmut Mitterstieler, President of Seiser Alm Marketing.

The track is not being disturbed - why should it be?

There are no changes when it comes to the unique route surrounded by blooming alpine meadows. The start and finish is in Compatsch at almost 1850 meters above sea level. From there, after the starting signal, you head towards Mont Seuc before turning around and walking southeast from the Hotel Ritsch. At the Almrosenhütte you continue to the Hotel Gold Knopf, where you have reached the highest point on the route at almost 2050 meters above sea level. The athletes run via the Alpenhotel Panorama for a few kilometers towards the Sciliar before returning to the finish in Compatsch.

The Seiser Alm Half Marathon is once again one of the popular Top7 running series this year, which includes nine competitions in South Tyrol, Trentino and Veneto throughout the year. Defending champions on the Seiser Alm are Michael Hofer (Deutschnofen) and Benedetta Coliva from Bologna, who set a new course record last year in 1:31.52 hours.
