Top 7 series on the home stretch

The smallest and oldest of the Top7 races with a good 300 participants is very popular with strong runners due to the fast route. For the first time, the regional championship titles in the half marathon will also be awarded at the Top7 final.

The starting signal for the 24 km long classic in the south of Bolzano will be fired on October 9.30th at 21.097:7 a.m. in the Galizien sports zone in Laives. The half marathon in the three communities of Leifers, Pfatten and Branzoll is the smallest among the top 1 races, but the names of the previous winners read like a who's who of the local running scene: Roland Weissteiner, Christian Leuprecht, Armin Mayr, Gerd Frick and the Trentino ex-mountain running world champion Antonio Molinari and Said Boudalia. The Italian-Moroccan also holds the course record in the three-municipality half marathon with 04:11:XNUMX. Renate Rungger and Rosy Pattis have each triumphed three times among women, just as often as Gerd Frick and Manfred Premstaller among men.

The run leads from Leifers via Branzoll to Pfatten and back to Branzoll. Like last year, the destination is on Alte Strasse at the southern end of Branzoll. This year too, the organizing team, SV Branzoll, with OC boss Andrea Isoppo, has set a target of 300 participants. “Perhaps there will even be more this time, because the regional championship titles in the half marathon will be awarded for the first time during our run,” said Isoppo.

Two South Tyroleans are currently leading the top 7 intermediate rankings. If Hermann Achmüller takes part in the Three Municipalities Half Marathon, his third overall victory can no longer be taken away from him. The first opponent is Volkmar Mair.

In the women's race, Gertraud Höllrigl - winner of the 21 km run at the South Tyrol Marathon - has a comfortable lead over the defending champion Petra Pircher. Mirella Gastaldo from Trentino also has a chance of overall victory. Only those who take part in four races will be included in the top 7 ranking. For this reason, defending champion Boudalia is already out of the race despite two wins this season.

The winners will be honored on November 26th at Haus Unterland in Neumarkt. Anyone who has taken part in all five Top7 races and is present at the prize distribution will, among other things, take part in the raffle for two starter packages for the world-famous Berlin Marathon 2011.
