Top7 running series: It should be a finale with style

On Saturday, October 22nd, it is unlikely that the fastest athletes will be on the podium of the regional special run, but rather the best, whose times will be multiplied by the age-dependent factor, the so-called “age factor”. The 10-kilometer run, which starts at 15 p.m., is also accompanied by the Andrea Isoppo Memorial, a five-kilometer non-competitive run. Hundreds of runners will compete in the ten-kilometer Agefactor Run on Saturday, October 22nd. At 15 p.m. the athletes start at the “Pinara” in Branzoll in order to reach the finish line as quickly as possible. The mood there will be exuberant in anticipation of the final ranking. In the Agefactor Run, the official times are calculated based on the actual time multiplied by an age factor (“agefactor”). So it's not necessarily the fastest participants who win, but rather the athletes with the best finishing times. As usual, the best 25 women and men will be honored. Last year, the winner was Luciano Moser from Trentino, who later became European champion in the SM65 category over five kilometers at the European Road Running Championships in Grosseto. It was his first victory in Branzoll after Bruno Baggia had dominated unchallenged for three years. The latter, who took fourth place in 2021 and is now a legend at the Agefactor Run, will not be present at the fifth edition. However, last year's winner Paola Accalai from Trentino will take part in the race again. Last year, the athlete from the Arcense club had the fifth fastest time, but was the best according to the age factor. Loretta Bettin achieved the best time of the day in autumn 2021, completing the ten kilometers in 37:31 minutes. In the men's race, however, Hannes Perkmann (30:31 minutes) was the fastest and ended up sixth. A proven format for a popular running festival Ten days before the event, preparations for the fifth edition are in full swing. “We are on the right track, the organizing committee's tasks will increase in the next few days, but we are doing well. The Agefactor Run will take place again as usual as there are no restrictions like last year. Refreshments along the route will also be offered again,” says Massimo Zago from the US Branzoll organizing committee. Thanks to this proven formula and festive atmosphere, the race has attracted the attention of numerous Masters athletes in the region over the years. But not only that: recently the organizers were also contacted by several sports clubs interested in adopting the same concept. “It would be an honor for us. The interest, affection and enthusiasm of the participants make us proud to organize this race,” says Zago. In addition to the format, the route of the Agefactor Run 2022 has also been determined: The 10-kilometer run starts at 15 p.m. at the “Pinara” in Branzoll. From there it goes on the flat route towards the village center and then on to Pfatten and Leifers. The participants then return to the “Pinara”, where the finish line of the race awaits them. Even those who do not want to compete can take part in the event. Immediately after the start of the competitive race, the Andrea Isoppo Memorial, a five-kilometer non-competitive race, will start. Anyone, including children, can take part in this run in memory of the creator of the Agefactor Run. It is not necessary to present a sports medical certificate and the times will not be stopped. Pure excitement until the last run The Agefactor Run also marks the end of this year's Top7 running series, in which more than 2000 athletes have taken part so far. As with the other races in the series, this race will award points based on the actual order of finish. At the moment, the siblings David and Natalie Andersag from ASC Berg are leading the overall ranking. David Andersag (2030 points) is almost 300 points ahead of Ludovico Palmieri (1767), who in turn has a decent lead over Fabian Pichler (1670/ASV Telmekom Team Südtirol). In the women's category, Natalie Andersag (1996 points) has a lead of over 200 points over last year's winner Petra Pircher (1729/ASC Laas Raiffeisen). Behind it, the fight between Natalie Mitterrutzner (1648) and Angelika Rier (1638) is completely open. On Saturday, October 22nd, it will be clear whether the current overall ranking will be confirmed or dramatically overturned.
