Karate Mühlbach: Successful weekend

Yesterday, 17 athletes from Karate Mühlbach took part in the second stage of a three-part, interregional FIK karate tournament in San Martino di Lupari (PD), winning 6 medals in the kata (form competition) and 5 medals in the kumite (duel).

Points are collected at each of the three stages, each about a month apart. Whoever can score the most points after the third stage wins the tournament. Every point may be important in order to be as far ahead as possible in both the individual and team rankings after the third stage. “What remains crucial for us is that the athletes show optimal performance,” says coach Martin Pezzei.

Kata

While the first stage of the podium places in the Kata discipline (form competition) was still subdued, the karate school in the market town of Mühlbach has now returned to the fast lane. It rained a total of six silver medals for Emilia Bruni, Laura Grünfelder, Julia Mair, Madleen Unterhuber, Lorenz Mantinger and Martin Pezzei.

Emma Peintner (4th place), Tobias Erschbaumer and Florian Filehner (both 5th place), Maria Peintner and Laura Peintner (both 7th place), Sonia Kaszas (place 8th). Greta Fischer, Jasmin Kurtovic, Anna Gallmetzer and Paul Filehner did not make it to the final this time.

kumite

In the Kumite (duel) Karate Mühlbach once again made a clear statement: Ramón Motta won gold. Silver went to Laura Peintner. Lorenz Mantinger and Florian Filehner won bronze in their respective categories. Madleen Unterhuber came in 5th.
