Haas team remains unchanged: Steiner confirms his drivers

The Haas Formula 1 racing team will continue to rely on the driver duo Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen next season. South Tyrolean team boss Günther Steiner announced this before the Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

The 36-year-old German Hülkenberg replaced his compatriot Mick Schumacher in the cockpit of the US team this year after a three-year break. The 30-year-old Dane Magnussen will be entering his seventh year with the team in 2024; last year he returned to Haas as a replacement for the (later fired) Russian Nikita Mazepin.

In the current season, Hülkenberg has nine championship points ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, Magnussen has two. “It’s nice to sort things out early for next season and focus on racing and improving performance,” said Hülkenberg. “I enjoy being part of the team and share Gene and Günther’s passion. We are racing in a very tight midfield and I look forward to building on what we have achieved together so far and continuing that in 2024.”

Team boss Steiner said about the extensions: “Kevin and Nico are clearly enjoying their time in the sport, they are both mature and understand exactly what we ask of them. Now it’s up to us as a team to look ahead to 2024 and make sure we have a car with which we can regularly finish in the points.”
