A historic victory for Maverick Viñales

Maverick Viñales won the third round of the Motorcycle World Championship in Austin, USA, despite a bad start.

The Aprilia rider prevailed on Sunday ahead of MotoGP newcomer Pedro Acosta (GasGas) and Enea Bastianini. His Ducati brand colleague Jorge Martín maintained the overall championship lead with his fourth place and is traveling to the next Grand Prix on April 21th in Jerez, Spain, with a 28-point lead over Bastianini.

Viñales had already won the sprint race the day before. He is the first driver to win a race on three different brands. The Spaniard had previously won victories in the premier class with Suzuki and Yamaha.
