No front row: Hülkenberg gets a penalty

Nico Hülkenberg lost second place on the grid for the Formula 1 race in Canada due to a rule violation.

The race stewards moved the Haas driver down three places on Saturday after the turbulent qualifying because he was traveling too fast on the track in Montreal under the red flag. That's why he'll start from fifth place on the grid on Sunday.

The 35 year old had previously driven sensationally onto the front row of the grid, just seconds later the session was interrupted due to an accident involving McLaren driver Oscar Piastri. However, the race stewards subsequently ruled that Hülkenberg had not adhered to the current speed limit on his next lap.

World Championship leader Max Verstappen secured pole position for the eighth round of the season on Sunday (20.00 p.m.) in the Red Bull. In addition to the Dutchman, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso will now start second from the front row in the Aston Martin instead of Hülkenberg.
