Motorsport: Numerous South Tyroleans (most from the Mendel racing team) took part in the 31st mountain race “Salita del Costo” in Vicenza. There were several class wins and top placings.

The fastest South Tyrolean in the starting field was Markus Schuster (MSG Vinschgau), who came second in the class up to 3000 cc in his Formula Gloria BMW.

Class victories, however, were achieved by Rudi Bicciato, Erwin Morandell, Paul Niederstätter (all Mendel racing team), Harald Freitag, Selina Prantl (both Racing Team Meran) and Georg Prugger (Alta Sports).

Six wins, five podiums

Dietmar Gschnell (2nd), Roland Gruber (2nd), Helmuth Winkler (3rd), Andreas Delueg (3rd/all RS Mendel) and Markus Schuster (2nd) landed on the podium in their respective categories. Top placings, however, were achieved by Elmar Gschnell (4th/RS Mendel), Ronny Marchegger (7th/RT Meran) and Stefan Kraner (4th/RC Kaltern).
