Olympics in Paris: Italy's flag bearers are now standing

To once be the flag bearer of his nation at the Olympic Games. This is the goal of countless summer and winter athletes. It is now clear who will receive this honor for Italy at the upcoming Games in Paris.

Top South Tyrolean athletes Jannik Sinner and Simone Giannelli were also in the raffle. Ultimately, the decision was made for Gianmarco Tamberi (high jumping) and Arianna Errigo (fencing), who will carry the Italian flag in Paris on July 26th. “This is recognition for the achievements of these two athletes, but also for their sports,” explained CONI President Giovanni Malagó.

Tamberi became Olympic high jump champion in 2021 and world champion last year. At 2,39 meters he also holds the Italian outdoor record. Errigo is a fencer in the foil category. The 35-year-old was also an Olympic and world champion.
