Val Gardena: A youngster wins the title

The 20-year-old Ugo Humbert from Metz won the one-sided final against tournament favorite Pierre-Hugues Herbert (also from France) 61:6, 4:6 in just 2 minutes on Sunday afternoon. The world number 55 had no chance against number 112. In addition to prize money of 9200 euros, Humbert will also receive 80 world ranking points, with which he will move into the top 100 for the first time in his career on Monday.

“Getting into the top 100 in the world will be a dream, I've dreamed of it since I was a child. Today I played really well. “I would like to thank my coach and my family,” said Humbert immediately after his victory. Herbert, on the other hand, was not satisfied. He wasn't able to play his best tennis today: “I started badly and didn't serve as well as in the last few days. He hit almost everything and played very well.” Herbert missed out on making it into the top 50 of the world rankings for the first time.

Humbert put pressure on from the first point and didn't even have to give up his serve during the game. Herbert, on the other hand, was let down by his service and had to give up the first service game. After half an hour and only five points given up on his own service, Humbert had won the first set.
