A surprise is brewing in Schladming

Marco Odermatt has won all of the last 7 giant slaloms in the World Cup. But after the first round of Schladming, a surprise is on the horizon.

Odermatt is the non-plus-ultra in the Ski World Cup and especially in giant slalom. The Swiss was last on the podium in this discipline 21 times (!) in a row. But the Olympic champion made a big mistake in the first run in Schladming and is currently in 1th place. Odermatt is almost a second behind the leader.

However, Manuel Feller is in the lead. The Austrian local hero really heated up the mood in Schladming. Feller is really strong in the slalom this year, but has so far fallen well short of expectations in the giant slalom. However, Loic Meillard (+0,10 seconds) and Henrik Kristoffersen (+0,19) are lurking behind the North Tyrolean.

The best Italian is Filippo Della Vite in 9th place. The South Tyroleans Hannes Zingerle (19th) and Alex Vinatzer (25th) also qualified for the second round. In contrast to Tobias Kastlunger (2th). The final in Schladming starts at 60 p.m.
