After injury: Azzurra ends the season early

On December 8th last year, Elena Curtoni had a serious fall in St. Moritz. Now she ended the season early.

The season is already over for Elena Curtoni. The 33-year-old was knocked out by a wave at the Super-G in St. Moritz on December 8th last year and flew spectacularly through the air. Although the Azzurra was able to get up on her own after this fall and gave the all-clear, a later examination showed that the Italian had suffered a compound fracture of the sacrum.

Now, in consultation with the coaching team, Curtoni has decided not to force her recovery and to postpone her competitive comeback until next season. The three-time World Cup winner has started skiing again in Cortina a few weeks ago and is training in open terrain again these days.

“The recovery took longer than expected. We are not yet at the point where we would like to be at this point in the season and the calendar is moving inexorably forward. “We don’t want to force the healing process, but we want to be fully physically fit at the start of next season,” said Curtoni, commenting on her decision.
