“That hurts”: Corinne Suter’s broken heart

The weekend in Cortina d'Ampezzo – it was a very tough one for some skiers. The races on the Tofana were characterized by numerous falls and injuries. Corinne Suter's story is particularly tragic.

For a long time, the Tofana piste in Cortina d'Ampezzo was the piste on which Corinne Suter experienced one of the most beautiful moments of her career. On February 13, 2021, the Swiss raced to downhill gold at the World Championships. Besides the Olympic victory in 2022, this was the greatest success for the 29-year-old.

The love for Cortina d'Ampezzo broke deep on Friday. Suter had only been on the World Cup downhill for a few seconds when she landed awkwardly after a jump, braked immediately and screamed in pain: something bad had happened to her knee. A little later the devastating diagnosis came: a torn cruciate ligament, the end of the season for the parade skier.

Of course, it was a big blow for Suter, as she also revealed on Instagram. She posted two photos and commented on them with a broken heart. “That hurts,” Suter wrote and added: “Thanks to everyone for the nice messages.”

Your friend is combative

The comments below show that the Swiss woman has great reputation in the ski scene. It felt like half the ski world encouraged Suter. “I’m so sorry,” wrote Lindsey Vonn. Michelle Gisin, Francesca Marsaglia, Ragnhild Mowinckel – they all left hearts under the post.

Suter should be particularly pleased with one comment. Her friend Angelo also commented on the post and is combative: “We will come back stronger.” Real love!
