Italy's ski talents show off in the European Cup

On Wednesday there were two European Cup races on the program in the ski circus. Italy was able to celebrate twice.

John Franzoni is actually considered one of the greatest ski talents in the world. But the all-rounder's steep rise has been repeatedly slowed down by injuries in recent years. The 22-year-old successfully returned with a second place at the European Cup Super-G in Sella Nevea (Udine province). This was Franzoni's first European Cup podium in over two years.

The young man from Manerba on Lake Garda only finished in the points once in the World Cup this year. Only the Frenchman Florian Loriot was even faster than Franzoni on Wednesday. Nobody from South Tyrol finished in the points.

Premiere podium for young Azzurra

The 19-year-old took part in the women's European Cup slalom in Malbun (Liechtenstein). Emilia Mondinelli on the podium for the first time. Mondinelli only had to admit defeat to the World Cup experienced Leona Popovic (Croatia) and Charlie Guest (Great Britain). However, other Azzurre, such as Beatrice Sola (13th), Martina Peterlini (18th), Marta Rossetti (26th) and Lara Della Mea (she was eliminated), were disappointing.
