Moltzan steps into the breach for Shiffrin

While US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin still has to wait for her comeback, American ski fans can look forward to a compatriot. Paula Moltzan fights for victory in Soldeu (AND).

The starting position for Moltzan, who has never won a World Cup race, is good after the first round in Andorra. The American is 1 hundredths behind Anna Swenn Larsson. The Swede is leading in Soldeu and gives her South Tyrolean coach Manuel Gamper hope, after figurehead Sara Hector (14th) is already relatively far behind, 9 seconds behind. The young Croatian Zrinka Ljutic once again presented herself strongly, finishing in third place.

While there was a weather fiasco and a race cancellation for the men in Bansko, the slalom women can compete in the second run in Andorra from 13.30:2 p.m. Although the slopes in Soldeu are not in the best condition and there is snowfall, a fair race is guaranteed. This was also proven by the Slovenian Neja Dvornik, who raced to 28th place with start number 12. AJ Hurt from the USA followed suit (13th place with number 30).

Things didn't go so well for the Azzurre. At least three athletes made it to the final, including Vera Tschurtschenthaler from Sexten (29th). Marta Rossetti is the best Italian in 19th place. Martina Peterlini (27th) will also take part in the final.
