Nasty injury stops Swiss late starter

Daniele Sette was a late starter in the ski circuit. It was only at the age of 29 that he was accepted into the B squad of the Swiss national team. This year he lost this place again, but he didn't think about giving up. But now Sette was stopped by a nasty injury.

Daniele Sette has invested around 80.000 euros out of her own pocket to be able to take part in the races in the coming Ski World Cup season. This became necessary because the giant slalom specialist was kicked out of the Swiss national squad after the previous season. A 19th place in Alta Badia was Sette's best result last winter.

Despite all the financial hurdles, Sette was in advanced training for the coming season (including switching to Nordica). Now the 31-year-old Swiss was stopped by a serious injury. A torn Achilles tendon will keep him out of action for a long time. Sette has already been operated on in St. Moritz at the Gut Polyclinic, which specializes in the human musculoskeletal system. Sette wants to be back on skis this year. Only time will tell whether he succeeds.
