Slalom: These are the U16 and U14 national champions

Last weekend, the state-level title fights in the U16 slalom categories were held in Val Gardena and the U14 category in Casies. In addition, the Marlene Cup continued and the state squad athletes also took part in various other FIS races and ensured success.

There are new national champions in slalom. The title fights in the U14 category were held on the Hintna Riesa in Gsies, with 209 racers born in 2010 and 2011 at the start. Amy Happacher (Drei Zinnen) won among the young women with a time of 1.14,07:1.14,30 minutes. Two racers from the Seiser Alm landed in the two places of honor behind them: Lisa Malfertheiner (1.15,48) and Nika Kerschbaumer (1.13,23). Pascal Kostner from Val Gardena won the boys' race with a time of 0,92:1,18 minutes. Julian Plieger from Sarn came second, XNUMX seconds behind, while Simon Kaser (Seiser Alm/+XNUMX) landed in third place.


In Val Gardena, however, the new U16 national champions were crowned on the “La Ria” slope. Among the young women, Arianna Putzer from the organizing SC Gröden was in a class of her own. She not only achieved an outstanding daily best time of 1.18,83:1.22,11, but was almost five seconds faster than Sophie Schweigl (Kronplatz) and more than six seconds than Isabel Leitgeb (Taufers) in second and third place. For the young men, the decision was much closer. David Angerer (Seiser Alm) prevailed in 0,74 ahead of Matthias Mahlknecht from Val Gardena (+1,15) and Max Meraner (Tscherms/+131). A total of 16 young athletes took part in the UXNUMX national championships in Val Gardena.

The Marlene Cup 2023/24 continued with a slalom in Val Gardena last Friday. In the U18 age group, Nadine Trocker (Seiser Alm) came out on top among the young women, recording a time of 1.45,86:0,18 minutes. Rita Granruaz (Alta Badia) took second place, 0,59 seconds behind, Eva Sophia Blasbichler (RG Wipptal/+1.38,87) came third. Among the boys of the same age, there was no way around Alex Silbernagl (Seiser Alm), who completed the two runs with a time of 1.39,23:1.40,71 minutes. Jonas Feichter (Gsies/XNUMX) and Valentin Sparber (RG Wipptal/XNUMX) completed the podium.

In the under-21 age group, there was a Val Gardena double victory for women by Chayenne Kostner (1.44,09) and Maria De Nardin (1.46,18), while Valentina Fill (Kronplatz/1.48,29) took third place. Francesco Zucchini (Prad) triumphed among the boys, achieving the best time of the day in 1.35,67. Behind them, Hannes Schranzhofer (Gsies/+1,36) and Adrian Pernstich (TZ Überetsch-Unterland/+2,35) lined up at a respectful distance.


Victories and podium places in FIS races in South Tyrol and Cortina

Francesco Zucchini achieved a podium place at the beginning of the week in a national junior race at Kronplatz, which was held as part of the Hungarian Slalom Championships. The state squad athlete took second place behind winner Riccardo Allegrini. Two days later, an FIS slalom was held in Casies, in which local hero Raffael Hopfgartner took third place and Alex Silbernagl (Seiser Alm) was the strongest racer in the U18 age group. 24 hours later, Denis Villgratter (Pichl Gsies) took second place, Francesco Zucchini came third and Alex Silbernagl was once again victorious in his category. In the U18 category for young women, Nadine Trocker (Seiser Alm) came second, while Hannah Feichter (Gsiesertal) came third.

The young South Tyrolean racers were also at the start in the fast disciplines. In Cortina, Emanuel Lamp (Gsiesertal) and Tommy Lochmann (Vigiljoch) took second and third place in a Super-G. Jonas Feichter (Gsiesertal) was the best U18 athlete. In the second race, Lamp prevailed, Lochmann came third and Feichter was able to secure the U18 classification again.


200 children at the start of the Pfiff Toys Children's Cup

Two slaloms were held as part of the Pfiff Toys Children's Cup on Meran 2000 (Wallpach Piste). Over 200 young racers from 2011 and 2012 were in action. The various podiums at a glance:
