The ski family puts a smile on Shiffrin's face

After a week-long break, the 25-year-old superstar wanted to get back into the races in Åre this week intervene in World Cup events. Because the races though canceled due to the coronavirus Shiffrin was not able to enjoy an appearance. “I would have liked to have been able to compete again this season with my friends and competitors. But I'm happy in a way. I cleared this difficult hurdle, came here and made some good training swings. I’m grateful for that,” Shiffrin wrote on Instagram.

The sudden death of her father also took the ski family with them showed a lot of solidarity and Shiffrin even gave a touching gift. A photo of the late Jeff Shiffrin with the number 1 was printed on a start number jersey and there were numerous signatures from the ski aces. “I am eternally grateful to the World Cup family for this gift that honors my dad. You guys are amazing, thank you.”

For the first time since the 2015/16 season, Shiffrin went away empty-handed this year, i.e. without a ball. Of course, this is mainly due to the fact that she hasn't competed in a race since the beginning of February. But the American presented herself as a very fair sportswoman. “I congratulate all the crystal ball winners. You totally deserve it.
