With start number 23 and as the last rider of the day, Perathoner made his debut in the elite class of skiing at the finale in Saalbach. The junior world champion in the Super-G finished in 3nd place, almost 22 seconds behind. The conditions were no longer ideal for the higher start numbers, which is normal at this time of year. But the placement was just a side note that day anyway.
“My dream is to compete in more World Cup races and of course to take part in the Olympic Games. That would be incredible,” Perathoner was quoted as saying by the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) after his debut. The 21-year-old from Wolkenstein dreams of the 2026 home Olympics in Cortina. He still has almost two years to qualify. Next winter, Perathoner is expected to spend a lot of time in the European Cup, where the all-rounder's best result to date is 10th place.
Perathoner's footsteps
By the way: Max Perathoner was born skiing. Father Alan was once an excellent slalom skier who achieved his best World Cup result in 2001 in Aspen (USA) when he finished tenth. Mother Ylvie Runggaldier also made it into the World Cup as a speed specialist, but ended her career at the age of 22.Suggestions
