Next double pack from the Azzurre: B&B strong again

Successful conclusion for the Azzurre in Crans Montana. After Marta Bassino's surprising first downhill victory (and Federica Brignone's second place) on Saturday, there was also some reason to be happy around 2 hours later. Once again B&B, Bassino and Brignone, starred.

It wasn't enough for another victory in the Super-G on Sunday, but the two Italians can still look forward to another podium finish. Brignone narrowly missed out on first place, taking second place behind Stephanie Venier. The Austrian was the fastest in the middle section and could therefore no longer be “captured” in the final section, which she didn’t catch optimally. Bassino ended up in third place, 1 hundredths behind.

The South Tyroleans were not able to convince. There were 4 athletes at the start: Nadia Delago, Nicol Delago, Teresa Runggaldier and Sara Thaler (all of whom come from Val Gardena). But it wasn't enough to get a World Cup point. Runggaldier and Nicol Delago came closest, finishing 31st and missing out on the points by 11 hundredths. Thaler finished 35th in her World Cup debut, while Nadia Delago brought up the rear of the field in 40th place.

Exciting battle for crystal

Nothing has yet been decided in the fight for the small crystal ball for the Super-G World Cup. Lara Gut-Behrami and Cornelia Hütter are in pole position, but are only separated by 5 points. That's why Brignone can still expect chances. The Azzurra is 34 points behind Gut-Behrami.
