Swiss ski talent is going through a difficult time, but has not lost his smile.

“My heart is broken”: skiing hopes devastated

The new season is just around the corner: anticipation, enthusiasm and drive are huge among many stars in the scene. But there are also ski aces who are going through dark times.

Last December, speed athlete Livia Rossi gave herself an early Christmas present. The Swiss completed her first two World Cup races in St. Moritz. Although she clearly missed the points in the two downhill runs, a milestone was set in her career. The 21-year-old also wanted to attack in the coming season, perhaps again in the World Cup, but certainly in the European Cup, where she has already made it to the podium. But nothing comes of it.

Rossi fell badly during training in Zermatt and broke his ankle. The downhill skier, who is part of the Swiss B squad, underwent surgery on the same day.

Emotional words

The sting runs deep. “I still can’t believe it and my heart is broken,” were the emotional words of the Swiss, who, however, appeared combative. “It will still take some time, but I know that with every day that passes, skiing gets closer again. That’s what drives me.”
