Gut-Behrami and Brignone grin in the fog of Kvitfjell

The Super-G race on Sunday in Kvitfjell (NOR) was a tough story. The competition, which started late, lasted almost 3 hours. Fog made life difficult for the athletes and the FIS jury. At the end, Federica Brignone celebrates the day's victory and Lara Gut-Behrami, who has come further closer to the little ball.

The Super-G in Kvitfjell was a lengthy affair. The race dragged on like chewing gum. There were repeated interruptions; sometimes the athletes had to wait almost 20 minutes for their start. The reason: thick fog that stubbornly stuck to the race track in Kvitfjell.

In the end, the race was somehow completed in almost 3 hours, although the last athletes were no longer allowed to start. However, there could be no question of fair conditions for all runners. Nevertheless, it has further steered the fight for the Super-G ball in one direction. Lara Gut-Behrami (she won on Saturday) took another step towards Kristall, because her closest competitor Cornelia Hütter (AUT) couldn't get past 7th place. The Swiss is now 69 points ahead of Hütter, who in turn is breathing down Federica Brignone's neck. The Italian is 5 points short of Hütter.

Brignone scored the full 100 points on Sunday. Gut-Behrami also couldn't come close to the Italian's time (she started with number 10). The Swiss took second place, 61 hundredths behind. Ester Ledecka (CZE) completes the podium in third place.

Runggaldier again in the points

Teresa Runggaldier was once again the best South Tyrolean. The Val Gardena native made people sit up and take notice with 14th place on Saturday, achieving her best Super-G result of all time. Runggaldier wasn't quite as fast on Sunday, but at least he got a few World Cup points again thanks to his 26th place. Nicol Delago (36th) clearly missed this by over 5 seconds, her sister Nadia was no longer allowed to start. The same applies to Sara Thaler, who had to wait in vain in the starting house for her turn.
