Biathlon Olympic champion mother for the first time

The former German biathlete Denise Herrmann-Wick has become a mother for the first time. Daughter Jonna was born last Tuesday, as the 35-year-old announced on social media on Sunday.

“Jonna, you are the culmination of everything we have been waiting for,” wrote the world champion and Olympic champion: “We are looking forward to a chaotically beautiful, exciting, new, fulfilling time together!”

Herrmann-Wick is married to the former cross-country skier Thomas Wick; the couple now lives together with their offspring in Ruhpolding, Bavaria. Herrmann-Wick ended her sporting career a good year ago in order to devote herself to family planning. The former cross-country skier was the most successful German ski hunter in recent years. She crowned her career by winning Olympic gold in the 15-kilometer individual race in Beijing a good two years ago.
