Since the war of aggression against Ukraine, things have become very quiet about Russian winter sports athletes. You have not been allowed to take part in FIS competitions for two years. This also applies to the former world-class biathlete Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht, who caused a sensation in the World Cup for years.

Now the now 39-year-old has announced the end of her career - quietly and quietly in a subordinate clause on social media. “This weekend the competitions in the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup take place. These will be my last races as a professional athlete,” wrote Yurlova-Percht.

The Russian woman has an extraordinary story behind her. In addition to her sporting career, she completed a degree in sports psychology. In 2011 she published a collection of her poems. Her greatest achievement on the track is the individual world championship title, which she won in Kontiolahti in 2015.

Four years later she became runner-up to Dorothea Wierer in the mass start in Östersund. Yurlova-Percht is now a mother of two and can now fully enjoy this happiness.
