Lukas Hofer narrowly misses the podium and comes fourth

13,7 seconds separated Hofer from his first World Cup victory in an individual race, while 8,9 seconds separated him from a podium place. Nevertheless, Hofer can be satisfied with his best World Cup result this season and the second best ever. As in the relay, the youngster from Puster showed a world-class performance at the shooting range.

However, winner Arndt Peiffer (Germany) was faster on the cross-country ski trail with a time of 25.57,5:1,1 minutes. Because Peiffer even missed a shot. Meanwhile, second place Simon Fourcade (+4,8/France) and Russian Evgeny Ustyugov (+XNUMX) in third place also remained error-free. For Ustyugov it was a successful revenge for his debacle on Thursday, when he cost his relay team victory with two penalties.

Speedster Dominik Windisch ended up in 38th place with three mistakes, while his bigger brother Markus missed two targets but didn't get past 58th place.

On Sunday the mass start race will take place in Oberhof before the World Cup entourage moves to Nove Mesto (CZE) for the “Antholz dress rehearsal”. In ten days the best biathletes in the world will come to South Tyrol, where the winter sports party of the year will once again take place.
