Traffic tickets and autograph cards: biathlete at the police

In an interview with the Schwaben Süd/West police, the German biathlete and police officer Philipp Nawrath spoke about life with his two callings. He admitted that, in addition to a badge and forms, he always carried a few autograph cards with him.

The interview seems more like a casual conversation between colleagues: Nawrath and another uniformed police officer holding a microphone stand outside facing each other. The other police officer asks the friendly German why he is seen in uniform in Swabia. “I’m currently doing my four-week internship here in Füssen at the office,” replies Nawrath. At first he worked in shifts, which was not possible for long due to his biathlon training. He then simply got more freedom in his shift planning.

The other police officer continues: “What about nutrition: Do you ever get a cheeseburger or a kebab?” Nawrath replies: “Actually completely caught. Here during the internship I took everything that was available to choose from.” When asked whether Nawrath is recognized while on duty, the 31-year-old replied: “It certainly happens.” The other police officer asks whether he also has autograph cards with him in addition to all the forms: “Yes, they are actually there because every now and then there was a request. Then you get a free autograph card with the parking ticket.”

Nawrath is known for his approachability and closeness to people. The down-to-earth man born in Füssen took part in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and took fourth place with the German relay team. His fans appreciate him for his coolness. In 2023 he became German individual champion and runner-up in the sprint and pursuit.
