Ski tourers are drawn to the Three Peaks

Ski mountaineering is currently booming throughout the Alpine region. In terms of competition, one highlight follows another in these weeks. A big classic is on the program this Saturday in Sexten with the Drei Zinnen Ski Raid, which is being held for the 25th time. The race will most likely be on the original route and the expected top-class field of participants promises pure excitement.

The endurance athletes have to cover 17,8 kilometers and 1625 meters in altitude this Saturday, March 9th after the starting signal at 8 a.m. at the Fischleinbodenhütte as part of the 25th Drei Zinnen Ski Raid. A total of three ascents, the same number of descents and a portage passage up to the highest point of the competition, which is at the Sextnerstein at 2539 meters above sea level, await the participants, before taking the shortest route to the finish at the valley end hut.

“We will of course keep a close eye on the weather in the coming days. If it is not possible to walk on the original route for safety reasons, we may switch to an alternative route. The safety of the athletes and the many helpers always comes first,” says OC boss Alfred Prenn a few days before the big showdown in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region.

Last year's runner-up Cecilia De Filippo Roia is there

Registrations for the South Tyrolean ski mountaineering classic are in full swing. The organizing committee is expecting around 100 participants. Experience has shown that the top athletes only register in the last few days before the start, but three “calibers” have already registered for the 25th Drei Zinnen Ski Raid.

Cecilia De Filippo Roia from SC Dolomiti Ski-Alp is last year's runner-up and the Puster local hero Michael Nocker will probably do everything he can to improve on his fourth place from last year. Also joining us on Tuesday was Bianca Somavilla from North Tyrol, winner of the Saalbach Mountain Attack 2024. Last year, the victory went to Christian Hoffmann from Austria and Alba De Silvestro from Belluno, who recently competed together at the Marmotta Trophy in Martell, which is part of the World Cup won the mixed relay with her husband Michele Boscacci.
