South Tyrol's dominance: Bagozza defeats Coratti in the final

The South Tyrolean snowboarders are racing from success to success in the World Cup. In Pamporovo (Bulgaria) Daniele Bagozza got the upper hand in the South Tyrolean final against Edwin Coratti and took his second win of the season.

Two South Tyroleans reached the final of the World Cup parallel slalom in Pamporovo in Bulgaria. Edwin Coratti from Langtaufers and Daniele Bagozza from St. Ulrich dueled for the day's victory among the snowboarders. The man from Val Gardena was easily the favorite because he had clearly dominated the qualification and all of his heats so far. However, Bagozza was in impressive form after the victory in Davos and put his compatriot under a lot of pressure in the final. In the end, the 28-year-old narrowly prevailed over Coratti and celebrated his fourth victory in the World Cup circus (0,62 seconds ahead).

But the Vinschger also had a smile on his face as he celebrated his third podium finish of the season in Bulgaria (after Davos/3 and Carezza/2). At the same time, Bagozza made it 2-1 in this purely South Tyrolean duel and is now fully taking on the role as the biggest local snowboard hope this season.

The local hero's fairy tale

The other man on the podium also celebrated his third place like a victory. At his home race in Bulgaria, Radoslav Yankov beat Korean Sangho Lee in the small final and threw himself into the snow for joy at the finish. The numerous home fans joined him in cheering for their man on the podium. For him, it was the long-awaited return to the podium after 2018.
