Broomball: Leifers fights its way into the semi-finals

The Vikings entered the pick round as blatant underdogs. With Neumarkt and Belluno in the group it seemed almost hopeless.

But the brave Leifers defended well in Game 1 against Neumarkt and took the lead with a long-range shot deflected by Kaldor, before Sergi even increased it to 2-0 after a counterattack. Neumarkt created chance after chance and Lunger scored the next goal before the referee ended the game.

The same in game 2 against Belluno. The Vikings fought hard and defended tooth and nail against the increasingly strong Venetians. But they also came away empty-handed and in the end it was 0-0 after extra time. Cappelletti and Casamassima converted their penalties safely, while goalkeeper Foini kept the Leifer box clean. Leifers is therefore in the semi-finals while Neumarkt and Belluno have to fight for the remaining place in Feltre on Saturday.
