Marco Danti has caused an international sensation.

Marco Danti with excellent performances

Marco Danti, the next one from the South Tyrol Badminton School's talent factory, has made international attention in recent weeks. The 17-year-old from Eppan won the silver medal in doubles at the Italy Junior International in Milan. He then made it to the round of XNUMX at the prestigious Dutch Junior as one of only two Europeans.

With Yasmine Hamza and Katharina Fink, two players from the SBS (South Tyrol Badminton School) have already celebrated great success internationally. While Hamza is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and has to postpone his Olympic dream until 2028, young talent is emerging behind him. Marco Danti (registered for Badminton Überetsch) shone at two international junior tournaments.

The Dutch Junior is one of the most important junior tournaments in the world. Even the top nations from Asia send their best. And Danti hit one of them. The man from Eppan defeated No. 11 from Malaysia, Lee Tao Eng, 22:20, 21:18. It wasn't until the round of XNUMX against the Indonesian Richie Duta Richard that it ended. No South Tyrolean has ever come this far at the top junior tournaments.

At the Italian Junior, Danti missed six (!) match points in the singles against the Thai Chayapat Piboon before losing 21:15, 24:26, 21:23. In doubles, Danti made it to the final together with Simone Piccinin. Again a Thai hurdle was too big. Against Chayapat Piboon and Sittisak Nadee, the Azzurrini had at least two set points at 10:21, 22:24.
