The badminton national champions have been crowned

On October 7th, Mals was all about badminton. Together with the under-regional championships of the specialist sports association FIBa, the VSS national championships for the U9 and U11 categories also took place in Upper Vinschgau.

The ASV Mal team around Stefan De March and Claudia Nista once again ensured everything ran smoothly. A total of 38 young players from the U9 and U11 categories took part in the VSS title fights in Upper Vinschgau.

The girls and boys competed against each other in both singles and doubles. “The children's enthusiasm was really contagious, especially the way their eyes lit up before every encounter,” said VSS board member Martin Unterholzer and Markus Moriggl, director of the Raiffeisenkasse Obervinschgau.

The smile of Lina Gögele from ASV Mals shone brightest. The young badminton player from Vinschgau won both the girls' singles in the U11 category and the girls' doubles alongside Valentina Burgo and, to top it off, the mixed doubles together with Niklas Gögele, who also won the boys' national championship title in the U9 age group. There was also two gold medals for Gabriel Tragust Atz from ASV Überetsch, who not only won the singles title in the U11 age group but also won the doubles alongside Alex Hafner. Hannah Niedermair from ASV Mals was also crowned VSS state champion for the U9 girls.
