Elite.A: The home curse continues, the wolves equalize

The Ritten Arena was bursting at the seams in the fourth game of the final series. After the away win in game three, the home team wanted to get their first match puck with a win in the fourth meeting, while the Puster guests, for their part, wanted to restore the stalemate.

In the early stages, the two teams studied each other. The Wolves created the better scoring opportunities. In a four-on-four situation, first Campbell and then Glira shot, but Mason was there. Afterwards, Bona and McLeod also tested the Rittner goalie's reflexes. Wilson's troops, however, had difficulty in offensive movement. However, the home team took the lead in the middle of the first third. With a double majority, Levi Nelson struck, sinking the puck as it fell behind Aubin in the Wolves' box (12.10). The Puster guests then stepped on the accelerator even more, but Mason continued to surpass himself. Especially in the 14th minute he showed all his skills with opportunities for Campbell and Ling.

A middle third to forget

The middle third had far fewer highlights than the first half of the game. However, this was less due to the tactical instructions of the two coaches and more due to the fact that both teams acted very hectic and nervously. The game was interrupted several times due to minor scuffles, which prevented the game from flowing. Ritten was able to save his narrow lead into the second break.

Luckily, ice hockey was played again in the final third. The Wolves were able to operate with one more man right from the start and didn't miss this opportunity. After a powerful shot from Sirianni, Mason high-fived and Scandella was there with the rebound. Ritten was shocked by the equalizer and was unable to defend himself for a few minutes. But Richer's troops were too imprecise at the end to take advantage of the "Buam" phase of weakness. Until the 50th minute - because then the hosts were back in the lead again. Spinell had an excellent opportunity when he failed to hit the goal from an optimal position. Now it went back and forth without either team finding a really good opportunity. Then, in the 58th minute, Ritten had the advantage and could have closed the bag. First, Guentzel shot from a distance, Aubin let the rebound go and Nelson missed from point-blank range. Rissmiller and Gruber then failed and thus missed the match point. It went into overtime.

Hofer redeems the wolves

There, too, the Wilson team initially set the tone thanks to a power play. However, Aubin was able to keep his box clean and destroy all opportunities for the "Buam". When the game was four against four again, the Wolves came up again. Scandella set the target for Hofer, who, however, did not put the puck in the net. In the ninth minute, Ling tried a hammer shot, which Mason was able to defuse. Only 60 seconds later, the HCP celebrated: Armin Hofer evaded two Rittner defenders and didn't give Mason a chance with a precise shot. 2:1 for the wolves, who equalize the series. Game five will take place in Brunico on Monday.

The home team obviously cannot win in this final series. The guests also had the upper hand in the fourth game, this time the Pusterer Wolves, who brought Ritten to its knees 2-1. Armin Hofer scored the winning goal in extra time. The series is now 2:2.
