Against Kloten: An HCP defeat with a lot of heart

On Wednesday evening, HC Pustertal met the Kloten Flyers in a friendly. The Wolves kept up excellently with their opponents from Switzerland.

In the absence of Zack Sill, who moved from the Kölner Haien to Pustertal in April, Lukas De Lorenzo Meo and Kevin Baumgartner, the Pusterer Wolves faced the next pre-season test on Wednesday evening. The guests were the Kloten Flyers from the Swiss National League, who ultimately defeated the South Tyroleans 4-2. However, the Wolves impressed with a courageous performance and repeatedly presented Kloten with major problems.

The HCP always kept up well, but in the end the offensive work of the guests from Switzerland took effect and they were in control of the game for long stretches. The only thing missing was effectiveness for the Flyers, who didn't always take advantage of the numerous outnumbered situations offered by the Wolves. The HCP defense often only knew how to help itself with penalties against the Klotener's storming runs, which ultimately scored the decisive goals. Nevertheless, the Pusterers callously took advantage of the chances they had - first Petan and then Schofield. The fact that the game always remained close in terms of results was due to the good organization of the Puster defense and a wide-awake Jake Smith.

Overall, it was a successful performance for the Wolves. The players fully supported each other in every situation, while the entire team also appeared to be well coordinated tactically. The narrow defeat against the Swiss is therefore bearable.
