The ICE Hockey League published the schedule for the 2023/24 season on Monday. For the ice hockey fans in the country it's now time to get out the red pen and have a calendar at hand.

The 13 teams taking part in the cross-border championship start the new season on Friday, September 15th. This will be played as a double round-trip with 48 games per team. The last game day of the regular season is February 23, 2024.

Especially for HC Bozen, who were already active in the Champions Hockey League, there is a full program on the first weekend of the league. The Foxes will kick off on September 15th in Innsbruck, with their first home game against Fehervar just 24 hours later. HC Pustertal also plays its first away game in Innsbruck (September 17th), but two days earlier (September 15th) the season starts in front of its home crowd against Vorarlberg.

Just two weeks after the start of the championship, on September 29th, the first of four seasonal derbies between the HCB and the HCP will take place in Bolzano. In order to make it easier for as many spectators as possible to get to the Sparkasse Arena, the game will not start at 19.45:20.30 p.m. as usual, but at 25:1 p.m. The same applies to Bolzano's first home game against Asiago on October XNUMXth. The fans have to wait until December XNUMXst for the first duel between Pustertal and Bolzano in Brunico.

Mode remains unchanged

For the 2023/24 season, the mode remains unchanged and therefore identical to the last two seasons: the best six teams in the basic round qualify directly for the quarter-finals. The teams in places seven to ten play in the pre-playoffs (format: best-of-3) for the remaining two places in the quarter-finals. The subsequent playoffs will be played in best-of-7 mode.
