Back in Switzerland: New task for Stefan Mair

After his premature end at HC Pustertal, Stefan Mair has been without a job since October of last year. Now the South Tyrolean ice hockey coach has found a new job.

As the traditional Swiss club HC Ambrí-Piotta announced on Friday, Mair will coach the Ticino U20 team in the future. Mair has a reputation for being an excellent trainer. In Switzerland he can do this under professional conditions. Mair is supposed to develop young players at Ambrí who will then make the step into the first team at some point. The first division club traditionally attaches great importance to the training of its own talents.

Last summer, Mair signed a three-year contract with HC Pustertal. However, the South Tyrolean ICE association ended the project after just a few months. Mair had previously worked for HC Thurgau in the second Swiss league for six years. The 56-year-old was already under contract in the DEL with the Schwenninger Wild Wings abroad.

In Italy, Mair worked as head coach for the national team, Fassa and Cortina. He looked after HC Pustertal for the first time between 2008 and 2011. Now the man from Bolzano is returning to Switzerland.
