Experienced Miroslav Guren is moving to HC Eppan

Guren is no stranger to Italian ice hockey. In the 2012/13 season he played for the Adler from Pontebba in Serie A1, where he was able to score an impressive 44 points in 35 games for a defender. The 1,90 tall and 100 kilogram powerhouse completed an exemplary career in the best ice hockey leagues in the world.

He began his professional career in 1993 with his parent club, HC Zlin in the Czech Republic. In 1995 he was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, for whom he played a total of 1998 times in the NHL between 2000 and 36.

However, the majority of his five-year overseas career was spent in the AHL, where he played a total of 354 games for the Fredericton Canadiens and the Quebec Citadelles. In 2001 the left-handed shooter returned to his homeland, where he played for HC Trinec in the Extraliga. In the same year he was called up to the Czech national team for the first time, for which he donned the jersey a total of 33 times.

In the 2002/2003 season, Guren turned his back on his homeland again and signed with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The following season he finally moved to Sibir Novosibirsk, where he was in the squad for five seasons. In total, he played 295 KHL games and scored 74 points.

Between 2008 and 2012 Guren played again in his homeland, first for HC Trinec and HC Litvinov in the Extraliga and then with HC Slovan Usti in the 2nd league, where he also won the championship in 2011/12. After his Italian experience at Pontebba, he spent the past sporting year in France at HC Rouen. There he played a total of 43 games, scored 24 points and won the League Cup.

Although the commitments of experienced players are often criticized, especially at the HCE we have only had good experiences with players like Jon Coleman, Jaroslav Spelda and Patrik Wallenberg in recent years. Guren was rarely injured throughout his career and our former coach Rodolphe Garnier confirmed to me that he is in top physical shape. He will definitely be an enrichment for our squad,” HCE sports director Alexander Hofer is convinced.
