State league champions: Partschins has reached the goal of its dreams

This year's state league title race was more exciting and varied than ever before. On the penultimate matchday the decision was made: Partschins were crowned champions thanks to a win against St. Martin Moos.

It's actually hard to believe: Partschins last played in the top league 48 years ago. Now the Lower Vinschgers are returning to the regional football upper house. Thanks to a 2-1 triumph at the brand new sports facility in St. Martin in Passeier, the Luca Lomi team secured the title. A title that also comes as a bit of a surprise. Before the season, Partschins' neighbor Naturns was identified as the big favorite. However, the blue and yellow still have a chance of promotion, as the second place in the table is playing a playoff.

In the end, Partschins is a worthy master. In recent years, the Black and Reds have matured into a top team in the national league with high-quality personnel in all parts of the team. Ulrich Rungg was a solid support in goal, Michael Aiello and Maximilian Frank were solid in defense, Armin Rungg is a luxury for this league anyway, captain Dominik Schnitzer and the extremely dangerous Olaf Stark formed a congenial midfield duo, while in attack Daniel Lanthaler in particular ( 15 goals this season in 21 games) was practically never sustainable. And then last summer Luca Lomi came to Partschins as a coach, who put these outstanding individual players together into a functioning structure.

On Sunday, Partschins demonstrated his strong nerves. Although they fell behind against St. Martin Moos after just a few minutes, the strong team did not let themselves be disturbed. Full-back Matthias Kuppelwieser with a powerful left-footed shot (10th) and Daniel Lanthaler with a deflected free kick (27th) turned the game around in the first half. Partschins then rocked the result with all his routine over time before the big championship break began.

Eppan is relegated to the 1st amateur league

In addition to the championship title, there was another decision on Sunday. Because Salurn won its match against Milland 2-1 thanks to a late penalty goal from Daniel Gennaccaro, Eppan is the third and final relegated team. Albeins and SC Passeier had to swallow the bitter relegation pill a few weeks ago. Eppan will be competing as Fußball Überetsch next season as it merges with Frangart.
