Pietersteiner defends himself: “Nothing was done wrong”

The chaos game between SSV Bruneck and Bozner FC continues to make waves. Bozen FC feels cheated, but there are losers in Brunico too.

I was in the stands in Reischach and was sure that the ball was in. The net was fidgeting, the people of Bolzano were cheering in the corner, the people of Bruneck were on their way to the middle of the pitch with their heads bowed. Only goalkeeper Pietersteiner and the referee continued play. Together with the other spectators there was no doubt, but we still watched with excitement to see what was happening on the pitch (huge protests from the people of Bolzano, a bit of helplessness from the people of Bruneck). When I then watched the video from the football arena, I have to admit: yes, the ball was in, but for a very short time and then it was always out and I understand that the referee partially obscures it from his position Gate could actually not have seen. I can't understand it from the linesman. That's what it's actually there for, wasn't covered up and was in a pretty good position. Actually, that's on him. Pietersteiner turns his head in the air and must have seen the ball in there, but nobody knows whether his eyes also looked there. I find it an absolutely absurd and wrong decision by the sports court to not accept the Bolzano appeal, but to ban two players from Bruneck. These gentlemen should finally have the courage to admit refereeing errors, especially when they are captured by 3-4 cameras in high resolution, instead of always just punishing the players. And two more things: As a rule, the Bolzano goalkeeper should have seen the red card after the foul as the last man on the counterattack after the phantom goal. He only received the yellow one. Bruneck then intentionally shot the subsequent free kick into the touchline. How come? If they had a bad conscience for missing the goal, they should have let Bolzano score an equalizing goal without resistance and fairness would have been restored. Otherwise they would have had to take the free kick normally...
