Regional tournament: South Tyrol's footballers defeat Lazio

This weekend the regional tournament is taking place in Liguria, where around 80 South Tyrolean young footballers are in action. The first games of the group phase took place on Saturday. The opponent: the selections from Lazio.

Of the four games between South Tyrol and Lazio, the South Tyroleans only won the U23 women's duel. The selection triumphed 2-1, with Lisa Prearo becoming the match winner with her brace. The footballer scored her first goal in the fourth minute with a remarkable free kick from 20 meters, while she made it 2-0 after a pass from Alexia Busetti in the 72nd minute. On Sunday the South Tyroleans will meet Emilia Romagna again in Chiavari, who achieved a 1-1 draw in their first game against Veneto.

The South Tyrolean U17s also scored points in the difficult groups, drawing 2-2 against Lazio. Jonathan Holzer and Timothy Prinoth scored the goals for South Tyrol in the first half hour. However, the 2-0 lead did not last until the end and the two teams drew 2-2. Meanwhile, the U15 (0:1) and U19 (1:2) narrowly lost their games. Johannes Larcher scored the goal for the U19s.

On Sunday they face Emilia Romagna, while the group stage ends on Monday with the game against Veneto. The regional tournament then continues with the quarterfinals (March 27th), the semifinals (March 28th) and the final (March 29th).
