Turbulent coaching exit in Brixen: “I was surprised”

An era came to an end for SSV Brixen with relegation from the league. Now coach Kurt Forer also has to pack his bags - even though he had actually already been confirmed for next year.

It was the bitterest hour in the club's recent history. When the home game against Obermais ended on Sunday afternoon in front of a packed grandstand, it was clear: the Eisacktalers had to go back to the national league after 23 years in the top league. However, they will take this step without coach Kurt Forer: the football teacher has not been confirmed by the club management.

This comes as a surprise to many, because at the end of April the clubhouse said: We will continue with Kurt Forer, regardless of whether it is in the major league or the regional league. “I was surprised when I heard that I would no longer be the coach next season. “We actually agreed that we would carry on, but that’s just how football is,” explains Kurt Forer SportNews-Demand.

Armin Forer, the sporting director of Brixen, explains the decision as follows: “There were a few internal restructurings and that's why the coach was no longer confirmed.” Does that have anything to do with the relegation? “Also,” was the answer from the sporty maker.

The cup final is still coming up

The season isn't over for Brixen yet, as the cup final against St. Pauls is still on Saturday. Then Kurt Forer will take his place on the Brixen coaching bench for the last time. There is already speculation about the successor, for example the name Patrizio Morini can be heard again and again. However, the club does not want to comment on this topic.

And what's next for Kurt Forer? “I would like to continue as a coach, but I have rejected the requests I have received in the last few weeks. Let’s see what the future brings.”
