No winner between Liverpool and Manchester City

Jürgen Klopp lost his lead in the Premier League in his farewell season as coach of Liverpool FC. In the last duel with Pep Guardiola and England champions Manchester City for the time being, the Reds fought for a draw in a high-class game on Sunday after a strong second half.

With the 1-1 draw, Arsenal FC are now tied for first place with the Reds. Man City is one point behind in third place. The defending champions tried to quickly put pressure on Liverpool's weakened team. Julian Alvarez (3rd minute) and Kevin De Bruyne (8th) had opportunities. After ten minutes, Klopp's team came into the match much better. Luis Diaz scored for Liverpool to make it 1-0, but Darwin Núñez, who provided the assist, was previously offside (19th).

City surprised the Reds four minutes later with a corner. De Bruyne didn't look for superstar Erling Haaland, but instead played flat to the six-yard box. Central defender John Stones was able to press into the near corner to make it 0-1 (23').

Liverpool came into the game better after half-time. After a back pass from Nathan Aké that was too short, Núñez poked the ball past goalkeeper Ederson, who fouled the Uruguayan. World champion Alexis Mac Allister converted the penalty (50th). After his entry, the Brazilian keeper had to be replaced injured by Stefan Ortega a few minutes later.

There were chances after that almost every minute: Phil Foden was denied by the well-reacting Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher (58'). Luis Diaz shot twice past the City goal (63rd/64th). Ortega cleared well against Núñez (71'). City joker Jeremy Doku had the last chance, whose attempt bounced back into the field of play from the inside post (89th).
