Juventus is showing its claws in the title race

On the 18th matchday of Serie A, Juventus confirmed its title ambitions. The Turin team prevailed against AS Roma in the top game of the round.

It was hard work, but a typical Juve victory: The Old Lady closed 2023 with a 1-0 home win against Roma on Saturday evening. This means that Juventus has moved within two points of leaders Inter, who couldn't go beyond a 1-1 draw at Genoa the day before. After three years without a Scudetto (the titles went to Inter, Milan and Napoli), the former series champion wants to get serious again this season.

Juventus and Roma largely neutralized each other. Both played in a 3-5-2 system. Adrien Rabiot scored the decisive goal immediately after half-time after great work from Dusan Vlahovic. The Serb played alongside top talent Kenan Yildiz in attack.

What else happened? Milan consolidated third place with a 1-0 home win against Sassuolo. Surprise team Bologna, on the other hand, suffered a setback in the 0-3 defeat against Udinese Calcio. Roma, on the other hand, slipped to seventh place. In the relegation crash, Salernitana landed a liberating blow. Inzaghi's team won 1-0 at Hellas Verona. For Hellas coach Marco Baroni, however, the air is getting thinner and thinner.
