Nicolussi Caviglia's debut victory: Juve moves to the top

In a highly exciting clash between Juventus and Monza at the end, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia achieved Juve's first victory since he was in the starting line-up. The Bianconeri won 2-1 and took the lead.

When Juventus entered the “Stadio Brianteo” in Monza on Friday evening, the Bianconeri were fighting for the top spot in Serie A. Former FC Südtirol player Hans Nicolussi Caviglia made his second starting eleven after his debut in the Derby d'Italia against Inter -Use and his third league game overall. As before at FCS, the talented player pulled the strings in midfield and also shone with an assist in Turin's narrow 2-1 win.

The hour came in the 12th minute for the 23-year-old, who stood at the flag to take a corner. The ex-FCS professional circled a smooth cross into the penalty area that reached Adrien Rabiot's forehead with pinpoint accuracy. The Frenchman then skillfully hammered the ball under the crossbar with his head and celebrated the 1-0 - and Nicolussi Caviglia about his first assist in a Juventus uniform.

However, until the Aosta player was substituted for Danilo in the 69th minute, the game increasingly shifted towards Juventus' goal. Despite the lead, the title aspirant limited himself to defending his narrow lead and stood at the back. That didn't change in the last twenty minutes. However, Monza became more and more compelling and Max Allegri's defensive tactics took revenge in stoppage time when Valentin Carboni put the ball into the net from the edge of the penalty area to make it 1-1.

Juve is not letting up

Bitter for Nicolussi Caviglia and Co., but it wasn't finished yet. Allegri whipped his players forward and Juve suddenly showed why they are one of the favorites for the “Scudetto” this year. Adrien Rabiot played the ball from the baseline into the middle, where Federico Gatti first missed the ball, but then sank it into the box on the second attempt. The final score was 2-1 for Juventus and the Piedmontese celebrated their hard-earned three points.

This means the Bianconeri return to the top of the table - at least until Sunday, as soon as Inter challenges reigning champions Napoli in the top game of Serie A (20.45 p.m.).
