Suddenly in second place: Lecce is shaking up Serie A

The fifth Serie A matchday opened with two games on Friday evening. One team in particular caused a huge stir.

Inter, Juventus, Milan, Napoli: It is not surprising that these clubs are at the top of the Serie A table. But in this early phase of the season, there is also a team in the concert of the big players that you couldn't have expected at all. We're talking about Lecce.

The southern Italians were only just able to stay in the league last year, but so far this season they have been playing like crazy. Eleven points after five games means – at least for one night – second place in the table. It's clear: the traditional club from Apulia has been the big surprise so far.

The most recent success story dates back to Friday. In the home game against newly promoted Genoa, the Giallorossi won 1-0. Remi Oudin scored the golden goal shortly before the end. Inter now leads the table (12 points) ahead of Lecce (11), Juventus (10) and Milan (9). However, the top three teams still have their game ahead of them this weekend. Nevertheless: Lecce's start to the season is remarkable.
